Markets

I recently did my first market and it was a total fizzer.  Hardly anyone came to the place.  I think all up there was around 8 people.. Yep 8 people.  That is pretty daunting.  It was a hot and extremely windy day I don't know how on earth I managed to keep my shade cover from blowing over. ( A lot of thanks go out to Bill from the food stall next too me and to my amazement one of my Uncle's whom I didn't realise was him until he stood up from nailing pegs into the ground lol.)
My stall was a bit of a mix I had jewellery, face masks, art works and a few T-shirts.  I sold 2 things for 4 hrs of work.  Yep 2 things 2 piece of jewellery :(  I won't complain though I mean I did sell something (it didn't cover the stall fee or the fuel over).
I have run into a few who have asked me why I haven't come back to the last 3 that were on.  I had a few reasons 1 being that I had to pick up my child from contact and the other one that was on it was stinking hot and windy as hell and there was no way I'd be going there  and I wouldn't expect anyone else too.  That brought the oh you are right on the no-one else there comment lol.  So that one would have be totally pointless.I have contemplated a few since and think I will try again particularly the ones in my home town.
I think I will still bring my mixed bag of goods but I am now working on displays and storage items to hold my stuff in on the table.  I am also bringing coat hangers for the shirts and to work out a way of hanging jewellery off them.  I think what I am  planning will do the job.
I am also putting signs around with the name of the place, little sayings and how my works came about.
I have now created make it your self kits for jewellery and I am not thinking of making craft kits for kids.
Well I am not giving up I have to keep trying on these things and who knows maybe my next post will be more positive?????
I persist.

Current fires

What a week we have been having.  Absolute horendous weather and now bush fires.  IT is sad to hear that some have been deliberately lit and by teenagers.
My heart sinks when I hear that.  I am astounded as to why they do it.  What would they think and feel if the fire headed for their homes and families what goes through their heads then????
All those courageous people now out away from their families fighting to save the homes and lives of others, sacrificing so much for so little.  I say this to you WE RESPECT YOU, We appreciate everything you do in your quest to prevent further loss and you are the salt of the earth for what you are doing right now.

Adult Education give it a go

After another year I graduate tomorrow with a Diploma in hand from TAFE after also receiving a Certificate 5 in Front Line Management from another institution a few months prior.
I'm pushing 40 and after attending University and not completing my Bachelor all those years ago I never thought that I would be studying all these years later, but in this day and age of updating and upgrading our skills I took this challenge by both horns and ran with it.
From that first day hitting the books only 4 years ago to today I have gained 5 certificates and a Diploma and a greater sense of self fulfillment and an great list of friends from all ages and walks of life.
I find that the studying not only gains you skill upgrades but a bigger window into what is out there not just in education but in socialization as well and for a stay at home single Mum these avenues are a great source of conversation and reconnection with people.
To be able to walk away after a year of hard work and double study while trying to find employment is very humbling but also proof to myself that I am a worthy human being.
This achievement has also shown my child that too achieve greatness one must first accept the trials tribulations and hard work of study and that nothing comes without hard work and application of ones self.
I am very much a live by example Mum and this has helped my child understand the value of a bit of effort and that nothing just comes to you.
I really recommend any Adult learning looking at improving ones employment prospects or just wanting to learn a different topic to dive right into the education system and give it a go.  You never know what you will achieve and you just might find your self walking out the other side with not just a degree but a sense of self fulfillment and accomplishment and a few great mates along the way.

Well I did it I gained my Diploma and a Certificate 4 in Front Line Management at the same time and as a full time single parent it tries you for sure, but I have to say I would do it again to get the qualifications necessary and I have a fantastic understanding child along with helpful parents, when I need them (not that I used them much).  But it was great to know they were there if I did feel overwhelmed at any point.

Graduation was a great day all round having my Angel there being so proud of Mum and my Dad.  I already knew a lot of TAFE staff from my previous years study and doing the diploma online was indeed a challenge in its self, with the teaching site constantly crashing and the chat site constantly booting me out.  Regardless of these challenges all was achieved.

Now for the next phase (which I've been hunting for all along) a job and well if no job then I will be starting my own business and already having a website I will redo it or make another one and add my business administration to the site.  So off for another chapter in an ever changing environment and more challenges ahead.
